It’s great to meet you.
Hi. I am Tracey- Anne Van De Merwe, photographer and owner of Kidz Unlimited Photographic Studio in Broadstairs in Thanet, Kent. Photography….and particularly Newborn Photography is my passion and nothing makes me happier than waking up to a day when I am expecting a fresh new baby into my studio for photographs and cuddles. I must have the best job in the world having the privilege of capturing these tiny little people and then watching “my babies” grow as they come back for further sessions.
Apart from being a busy, workaholic photographer, I am a wife and a mother to my two beautiful children. My daughter, Carrigan and son, Keagan were my inspiration to start this all in the first place! My own babies are nearly all grown up now at 22 and 24 years old, They do still never cease to amaze me though as they grow into delightful, confident young people. I am a Christian…..and not just in the way that is used to denote your Religion on a form. My faith and daily walk with Jesus is very much part of who I am. My family are all active members of Global Generation Church in Margate.
I am a qualified General Nursing Sister and Midwife. This is the career path I chose when I left school in South Africa where I was born. After qualifying, I worked for 9 years as a Midwife and Neonatal Nurse in the High Risk Maternity and Neonatal Unit of the world famous, Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, where the world’s first Heart Transplant was done. During this time I also did a Neonatal Intensive Care Diploma and worked in the Neonatal ICU with some of the tiniest little people imaginable.
I then left nursing and changed career entering the competitive world of the Pharmaceutical Industry where I worked in Sales and Marketing for two top International Pharmaceutical Companies. In order to further my career in this industry I went to night school and obtained a degree in Media and Marketing Management studying photography as part of this qualification. This just served to increase my interest in what was already a hobby, but it was only after the birth of my children, that I began to consider this as yet anther career change.
We immigrated to the UK in June 2000 and I was a stay at home mum for a few years with small children. In May 2002 I opened Kidz Unlimited Photographic Studio with the first shoot being a 9 day old newborn. The business has moved location several times since then and has grown so much over the last 19 years………..as have I in my ability to provide you with excellent quality images and outstanding customer service and top quality wall art to display in your home and treasure forever.

Tracey captured some gorgeous girly newborn photos of our daughter. We found the studio to be well suited to a new baby, it was warm and quiet, with a sense of calm. Tracey has a special way in which she handles newborns, my daughter was completely comfortable in all the positions she was put into. Tracey was very discreet in clearing away any mess my baby made, and only passed her back to me to feed, then back on with the shoot, this worked really well. We were there for hours but it seemed to fly by. Before arriving at the studio Tracey took the time to find out what scenes and colours we were interested in. On viewing the photos a few weeks later we were given time to choose our final choices. The price list seems reasonable and she had different packages for different budgets. The photos we chose are definitely ones to treasure, we are only sad we didn’t know about Kidz Unlimited when our first daughter was born!

For 3 years or more, I liked and watched the Kidz Unlimited Facebook page after seeing one of Tracey-Anne’s photos on my news feed, in hope that maybe one day I would have a baby which she could photograph. In February 2015, that finally happened and she captured not only some beautiful newborn shots, but also brotherly love with both Stanley and my eldest, Logan, and a newly extended happy family. Since then, Tracey-Anne has captured my ‘Fat Stan’ and that brotherly love grow through the sitting and one year shoots… I have been overwhelmed by the memories she has helped us to capture and would happily guide anyone in her direction, whether it be friend, family or someone I’ve never met before. It’s hard to believe it’s over…. Until the next time! Thank you x

Love this lady; such an amazing photographer and inspiring lady, so glad she followed her heart and concentrated her effort into something she clearly loves doing! Following the birth of my first little beauty, we spent a fabulous few hours in Tracey-Anne’s studio, to a new mum her calm and relaxed manner immediately puts you at ease, knowing she has worked as a midwife and cared for the tiniest of babies is reassuring when she cradles your new little bundle. Here she captured precious moments in time; my budding ballerina, daddy’s little cricketer, a content baby with her new snuggly toy, happy to work with my crazy ideas & bags of props!! This shoot was the beginning of a long and continuing road of beautiful pictures; newborn, sitting, Christmas mini shoot, 1st Birthday messy cake smash, 2nd pregnancy I even braved a bump shoot-surprisingly one of my most treasured pictures! Then round two began to recreate those first year images with my second little beauty, so lovely to look back at how different they are, their newborn size, then their unique personalities captured in moments on film! If you are looking for someone to capture special moments in your children’s lives, I would definitely recommend Tracey-Anne from Kidz Unlimited. Thank you so much for being part of the my amazing journey into motherhood. I LOVE looking at your photographs around our home, our family’s memories captured forever!!
